Want To Enrol Your Child In Kendriya Vidyalaya? Here's What You Need To Know

As the cost of education continues to rise, many parents find themselves unable to afford private school fees. Consequently, they turn to government-run schools, considering them a viable option for providing quality education at a fraction of the cost.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) governs central schools, also known as Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs). But what are the expenses associated with schooling at these institutions?

According to reports, Kendriya Vidyalaya rank among the top government schools in terms of quality education. Every year, numerous parents apply for admission for their children without knowing the exact expenses involved.

Based on recent data, it's revealed that from first grade to twelfth grade, the monthly expenses in these schools remain consistent. The development fund for each student amounts to only 500 rupees per month. Additionally, admission fees per class are merely 25 rupees, and in the case of re-admission, it's only 100 rupees.

So, what about tuition fees? From ninth grade to twelfth grade, students are charged a tuition fee of 200 rupees per month, while for computer science subjects, an additional 100 rupees is levied from the third grade to the twelfth grade. Furthermore, for students studying computer science in the eleventh and twelfth grades, the fee is 150 rupees.

With such reasonable expenses, the number of students enrolled in these schools is substantial. As of 2023, there are 1,254 central schools across the country, catering to nearly 14 million students annually.
