Temperature Takes A Dip In Bengal, Cool Breeze And Rainy Forecasts Ahead

Kolkata experienced a sudden drop in temperature, reaching a minimum of 12 degrees Celsius on Monday. The Alipore Weather Office reported a decrease of three degrees Celsius within the past 24 hours, making it the coolest day of the year so far.

Last week, on January 13th, the city recorded a temperature of 12.8 degrees Celsius. However, Monday's temperature was even lower, hitting a minimum of 12 degrees Celsius. The weather bureau predicts that the mercury might continue to fall in the coming week.

Contrary to expectations, Kolkata's maximum temperature on Monday was 21 degrees Celsius, six degrees lower than the normal temperature for this time of the year. The city experienced dense fog in the morning, gradually clearing up later in the day, but the sky remained overcast throughout.

The Alipore Weather Office assures that the next four to five days will see a stable temperature, ruling out any significant increase. Additionally, the region is not only experiencing the winter chill but also anticipating the onset of rain.

Darjeeling and Kalimpong in North Bengal are expected to have dry weather on Monday, but a change in weather is anticipated from Tuesday onwards. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in some areas of these districts.

In South Bengal, light rain is expected in areas like South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Jhargram, and Bankura on Tuesday and Wednesday. Some parts of these districts might also witness a slight drop in temperature.

Last Sunday, Kolkata's minimum temperature was 15.2 degrees Celsius, registering a three-degree decrease within 24 hours. The city's weather continues to be unpredictable, with a chance of light rain in the southern districts on Thursday.

As the cold spell persists, the people of Bengal are advised to brace themselves for cooler days and occasional rain, adding a unique touch to the winter experience in the region.
