New Bengali Film: Shoojit Sircar Set To Produce Biopic On Satyendra Nath Bose, Who Will Portray The Scientist?

Whether it's Bollywood or Tollywood, most films revolve around famous personalities, be they actors, freedom fighters, or sports stars. However, rarely does one see a scientist being portrayed on screen. Yet, in India, where the number of scientists is substantial, Bengali cinema is taking on the challenge.

According to sources, the next big project in Bengali cinema is a biopic on the renowned scientist Satyendra Nath Bose.

Director Shoojit Sircar is reportedly set to helm this project, expressing significant interest in the subject matter. If this goes through, it will mark his third Bengali film, following the release of "Aparajita Tumi" in 2012 and "Open Tee Bioscope" in 2015. After nine years, Sircar is returning to Tollywood with this ambitious venture.

Reports suggest that the main concept and funding for this film come from a prominent Kolkata-based production house. Anticipation is already building among fans, with excitement mounting even before any official announcements.

However, the question remains: who will portray the scientist on screen? Currently, two prominent actors are being considered for the role: Jisshu Sengupta and Anirban Bhattacharya. Jisshu, known for his charismatic presence, previously showcased his versatility in Srijit Mukherji's "Dawshom Awbotaar." On the other hand, Anirban is acclaimed for his intellectual roles, a quality essential for portraying a scientist effectively.

It's a tough decision to make, as both actors bring distinct qualities to the table. Ultimately, the fate of this character will be a sight to behold.

Additionally, it's been revealed that Bodhaditya Banerjee, known for directing films like "Pink," "Lost," "Red," and "Baishey Srabon," could potentially take the directorial reins for this project.

The film will be produced in both Bengali and Hindi, with no change in the lead actor. Therefore, whether it's Jisshu or Anirban, both have previously worked in Hindi cinema. Moreover, the producers have indicated that most of the cast will comprise Bengali actors, with a possibility of a few Bollywood stars making appearances. Rumours suggest that the production team is eager to kickstart filming by the end of the current year.
