Kolkata Metro Will Be Running Overnight During Durga Puja Festivities

In a tradition that continues this year, the Kolkata Metro Railway will extend its services into the late hours of the night during the auspicious days of Durga Puja. This move aims to facilitate the travel of devotees and enthusiasts eager to witness the grand festivities of Durga Puja in Kolkata and its surrounding regions.

During the three pivotal days of Durga Puja—Saptami (October 21, 2023), Ashtami (October 22, 2023), and Navami (October 23, 2023)—Kolkata Metro will offer a total of 72 services, evenly distributed between east-bound and west-bound directions. The services will commence at 11:55 PM and continue until midnight, with a train available every 20 minutes to accommodate passengers.

The first service will commence at 11:55 PM from Sealdah and proceed to Salt Lake Sector Five. The first service from Salt Lake Sector Five to Sealdah will begin at 12:00 AM.

The last services of the night will depart at 11:35 PM from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector Five and at 11:40 PM in the reverse direction.

On the day of Dashami (October 24, 2023), to further enhance passenger convenience, a total of 48 services will be operated, divided equally between east-bound and west-bound directions. The services will run from 11:55 PM until 8:00 AM the following day, with trains available every 20 minutes.

The first service on Dashami will commence at 11:55 PM from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector Five, followed by the return service from Salt Lake Sector Five to Sealdah starting at 12:00 AM. The last services for the night will depart at 7:35 AM from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector Five and at 7:40 AM from Salt Lake Sector Five to Sealdah.

However, it's important to note that there will be no metro services on the Purple Metro line during Saptami (October 21, 2023), Ashtami (October 22, 2023), Navami (October 23, 2023), and Dashami (October 24, 2023).
