Bollywood Cinema Mourns the Loss of 'Junior Mehmood': Veteran Actor Naeem Sayyed Passes Away At 67

Renowned Bollywood actor Naeem Sayyed, popularly known as 'Junior Mehmood,' succumbed to a prolonged battle with stomach cancer at the age of 67. Despite facing over 250 films throughout his five-decade-long acting career, Naeem Sayyed's name might not ring a bell for many, but as 'Junior Mehmood,' he had left an indelible mark in the world of entertainment.

His recent struggle with stomach cancer led him to a hospital where he fought bravely, but sadly, the battle ended with his passing. Just a few days before his demise, family members brought him home from the hospital. Unexpectedly, on Thursday evening, his health deteriorated, and on Friday morning, he breathed his last.


Naeem Sayyed initiated his acting journey in 1966 with the film 'Mohabbat Zindagi Hai' in Bollywood. The film marked the beginning of a prolific career that included notable works such as 'Katipatang,' 'Mera Naam Joker,' 'Parvarish,' and 'Do Aur Do Paanch.'

However, Naeem Sayyed's popularity soared not just for his acting prowess but also for his comic timing, earning him the title 'Junior Mehmood.' His association with the legendary comedian Mehmood brought him under the spotlight, and Mehmood himself bestowed the moniker 'Junior Mehmood' upon him.

Before his demise, he expressed a desire to meet fellow actors Jitendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar, with whom he had shared the screen in multiple films.
