Unveiling The Rich History Of The Naba Brindaban Temple in North Kolkata’s Bagbazar!

Founded in the year 1940 by the Karuri family, particularly Sri Nandalal Karuri, this temple holds a unique connection with the ancient charm of Brindaban. Deepak Karuri, a custodian of the temple, shared that their forefather, inspired by the allure of Brindaban, decided to establish the Naba Brindaban Temple in Bagbazar.

The temple hosts various ceremonies, with the grandest being the 'Annakut,' where Lord Krishna is offered a sumptuous array of 350 different delicacies, including Shukla Bhog, Ranna Bhog, Anna Bhog, and Mistanna Bhog. Deepak Karuri emphasised that they take pride in personally managing the temple's upkeep, with a familial trust dedicated to the welfare of the temple.

While once-grand Ras Utsav celebrations were held, now Ras Utsav is celebrated in a small way. Nevertheless, the temple continues to host various rituals like Jhulan, Ras, and Janmashtami with utmost sincerity.

The Naba Brindaban Temple, a 43-year-old marvel, primarily worships Radha-Krishna, and within its premises lies the Nat Mandir, where all the festivities come to life. The annual Rath Yatra procession, featuring a 103-year-old chariot, adds a touch of antiquity and grandeur to the celebrations.
