Actor Joy Sengupta spent his childhood in Delhi but his knowledge of Bengali cinema and culture is praiseworthy. Though his main identity is that of an actor, he is also an established voice artist who has lent his voice for the Hindi dubbing of the superhero character 'Captain America'. He is acclaimed for his debut feature ‘Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa’ released in 1998 directed by Govind Nihalani. An English Literature graduate from Delhi University, he thereafter received a Diploma in Drama from the Living Theatre Academy at New Delhi. Sengupta had initially worked in theatre, telefilms and television series in Delhi and later shifted to Mumbai. The celebrated actor highlighted the unknown aspects of his life while interacting with Jiyo Bangla recently on its exclusive show ‘Tolly Kotha’.
