Singer Iman Chakraborty started singing at a very young age and was initially trained by her mother who was a singer. Her father was a tabla player. The musical background has helped her from her initial days in motivating her to pursue music both as an interest and as a profession. Iman Chakraborty rose to fame in 2017 for her Bengali song ‘Tumi Jaake Bhalobasho’ from the film Praktan and it helped her to come to the limelight. She won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2017 for the song ‘Tumi Jaake Bhalobasho’ and she happens to be one of the few singers who have won a national award for the debut film song. Besides the National Award, she also won several accolades like Filmfare Award for Best Playback (Female) Bengali at Filmfare Awards East and Film Song of the year – Critic’s choice at the Mirchi Music Awards Bangla 2016. Iman chakraborty has come a long way since 2017 and currently has a very strong audience base.
