Which 7 distinct movies are showcased in DIFF?

Last Week the 3rd DumDum International Film Festival (DIFF) was inaugurated at Rabindra Bhavan. The Event was graced by West Bengal's Tourism minister and author Bratya Basu along with critically acclaimed actress Tabu. DumDum's IFF has been running successfully for the past 3 years making it one of the recognizable and prestigious film festivals in North 24 Parganas. The festival has attracted huge movie-buffs for its selection of movies every year. Speaking about the occasion, Minister Bratya Basu said, “This is a festival that encapsulates the cultural resurgence of the people of Dumdum. We are extremely happy to see that every year we have packed a significant number of audiences. People come and appreciate the movies which are showcased and it is a great feeling.” He even added, “I hope this festival becomes a successful one”.

The main motive behind such festival was to enrich the audience with huge varieties of movie from all over the world.

7 such films which were showcased in this year’s Dumdum international Film festival were:

1. Pregmanshu Roy's “Chilekotha”

It is a biographical drama based on the life of an elderly NRI, Who returns to his motherland and relieve his memories.


2. Giuseppe Tornatore's “Malena”

A young kid falls in love with a married woman, whose husband is presumed to be dead in war. Malena's beauty is depicted as her cure and how she survives the loneliness.


3. Abdellatif Kechiche's “Blue is the Warmest Colour”

A French romantic drama which narrates the story of a woman who meets another woman and falls in love with her.


4. Woody Allen's “Match Point”

What happens when a former tennis pro falls in love with an actress who is dating his friend.


5. Chaitanya Tamhane's “Court”

An Indian legal drama which deals with Indian Legal System and an ageing folk singer who is accused of encouraging a manhole worker to commit suicide.


6. Spike Jonze's “Her”

A Lonely writer develops a relationship with Samantha, who is an intelligent operating system. It is a sci-fi romantic drama released in the 2014.


7. Thomas Vinterberg's “The Hunt”
