What Are The Upcoming Projects For Prosenjit Chatterjee? Will Bumba Da Make His Mark in Bollywood?

Prosenjit Chatterjee, fondly known as Bumba Da, remains the leading figure in the Bengali film industry, capturing the hearts of audiences across the board.

Last year, his film 'Doshom Awbotar', released during Durga Puja, emerged as a blockbuster hit, followed by two more critically acclaimed movies, "Kaberi Antardhan" and "Shesh Pata," in 2023.

As the new year begins, fans are eager to know what's next for the iconic actor. Sources reveal that Prosenjit is fully immersed in his schedule, with several exciting projects lined up in Tollywood.

One of the most anticipated releases is 'Ajagya', directed by Kaushik Ganguly, marking his 50th film in collaboration with Rituparna Sengupta. The shooting for this project has recently concluded, and it's set to hit the screens this new year.

Additionally, Prosenjit has commenced shooting for 'Devi Chowdhurani' in Purulia, directed by Subhrajit Mitra. He will portray the character of Bhawani Pathak alongside actress Srabanti Chatterjee in the lead role. Shooting for this film is expected to start in March.

While his commitments to 'Doctor Babu' and 'Sajghar' remain, Prosenjit has yet to announce any new Bengali film projects for the upcoming year. However, rumours suggest that he's considering ventures beyond regional cinema.

Last Saturday, Prosenjit was spotted in Mumbai, fueling speculation about potential collaborations in Hindi cinema. Reports indicate his interest in exploring new opportunities in Bollywood and even contemplating projects in Hyderabad.

Moreover, the second season of the acclaimed web series 'Jubilee' has commenced production, though it's unclear if Prosenjit will be part of the cast. Only time will tell.

Following the demise of acclaimed director Pradeep Sarkar last year, rumours circulated about Prosenjit's involvement in a biopic on actress Binodini Dasi. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding this project.

Despite his absence from the Pujo lineup, Prosenjit's fans can still look forward to 'Tekka' directed by Srijit Mukherji, featuring an ensemble cast including Dev, Rukmini, Swastika, Parambrata, and Jissu. It's evident that Prosenjit's presence will be missed in the Pujo releases, but the silver lining hints at a potential collaboration with Srijit for another project.

While Prosenjit Chatterjee may be taking a step back from Bengali cinema momentarily, his foray into national and international projects promises an exciting year ahead for the megastar and his legion of fans.
