Several areas in Bengal have experienced light rainfall despite the prevailing winter chill. Alipore Weather Office had hinted at this precipitation, and indeed, a gentle drizzle has graced various locations in the city since Tuesday midnight.
While the northern regions like North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Kolkata, Hooghly, Purulia, Bankura, Bardhaman (East and West), and Nadia may experience the possibility of light to mild rain on Wednesday, southern areas such as South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur, West Medinipur, and Jhargram could also witness sporadic showers.
Contrary to expectations, rain is not limited to South Bengal; even North Bengal, specifically in Darjeeling, anticipates light showers, accompanied by the likelihood of snowfall in some areas.
The Weather Office reports that cold winds from Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are contributing to the spread of cool vapour over the Bay of Bengal, leading to the formation of dense clouds and subsequent rainfall in the state.
Wednesday's weather forecast suggests overcast skies, with the minimum temperature in Kolkata hovering around 14 degrees Celsius, a slight increase from Tuesday's 12 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature might reach 21 degrees Celsius.
This unexpected weather pattern is a testament to the dynamic nature of the climate in the region, offering a respite from the usual winter chill and adding a touch of freshness to West Bengal's atmosphere.
