TrimbakeshwarJyotirlinga is located here. Tridev is worshiped at the same time.

The meaning of the word Trimbak (Tri Ni Ambak) is Lord Shiva’s three eyes, and his three eyes are known as the sun, moon, and fire. And it is also believed that Trimbak means “Trinities” or Trimurti,” which represent Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. There is another story told in Lingpurana about the word trimbak. “Linga Purana says Triambak is the father of light, sun, moon, and fire. Trimbakeshwar is the name of the island in the Gautam Ashram area called Jambudvipa in Bharat Dvipa, India, where the Dandak forest is located. But its old name is Trisandhya. And the name Trimbakeshwar has been derived from the father’s name, which means three lights: the sun, moon, and fire.

Trimbakeshwar temple is called a jyotirlinga temple as it is one of the twelve jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. It is located near Nashik (30 km away) and is visited by a large number of devotees. The town of Trimbakeshwar is named after the temple. The actual name of the town is Trimbak. It is the venue for the Simhasta Kumbh Mela, which is held here once every 12 years. On Brahmagiri Parvat, there was an ashram run by Gautam Rishi. Gautam Rishi performed a penance on this hill to please Lord Shiva and remove his sin of killing a cow.

Lord Shiva was pleased and asked Gautam Rishi what he wanted. Gautam Rishi wants to take a bath in Ganga Manta’s water to remove his sin of killing a cow. Lord Shiva accepted Gautam Rishi’s wish and sent Ganga Mata’s water to Brahmagiri Parvat, but the Ganga river disappeared from there again and again. Ganga Manta does not want to leave her alone there. Ganga Manta asks Lord Shiva to stay with her at Trimbakeshwar. And Lord Shiva accepted the Ganga manta request and originated on the land of Trimbak in the form of Jyotirlinga, which is known as Sri Kshetra Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Mandir. Trimbakeshwar Temple is famous for rituals like Narayan Nagbali Puja, Kaal Sarp Yog Puja, Tripindi Shradh Puja, Kumbha Vivah, Mahamrityunjay Jaap, and Rudra Abhishek.
