1. Black tea is excellent for darkening your hair. It even brings out the natural highlights. Use 4 tea bags in 2 cups of boiled water. Let it soak for a while. Apply it on your hair after shampooing. Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse it off. The longer you leave it on your hair, the darker will be the hue.

2. Red wine adds a subtle reddish sheen to your hair. Put some red wine on damp hair and keep it on for 15-20 minutes and rinse with a mild shampoo. You can even use apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair as it usually helps the colour last longer.

3. Citric acid which is found in abundance in lemons helps bleach the hair. Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice on your hair. Keep it on for an hour or two and then rinse it off with a mild shampoo. You will notice distinct lightening of the colour of your hair after a few applications.

4. Cinnamon tea also helps make your hair shade lighter. Make cinnamon tea and let it cool. Then apply on your hair, keep it for 30 minutes and rinse it off with shampoo.
