On Wednesday, August 23, at 6:04 p.m., Lander Vikram successfully landed on the south pole of the moon. India became the first country in the world to conquer the south pole of the moon. After watching it on TV, the entire country became proud of the artisans on the mission. Just like that, the tide of joy was flowing in Jalpaiguri town, especially in the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College premises, because six members of this college were part of the Chandrayaan 3 mission.
Kaushik Nag was on the list of artisans for the victory of the Moon Mission. He passed out of the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College in 2015 and joined India's space research organisation, ISRO, in 2018. Apart from Kaushik, five more college students were involved in this Chandrayaan-3 mission. They are Niranjan Kumar, Sanjay Dalui, Amarnath Nandy, Soumik Sarkhel, and Mukund Kumar Thakur.
To celebrate the success of Kaushik Nag and five other students, 2000 laddoos are being distributed in the area, including the college campus. Members of the Lions Club of Jalpaiguri Genesis took flowers and sweets to felicitate the college authorities on that day.
Vinit Kharia, on behalf of the Lions Club of Jalpaiguri, said to the media, "I paid my respects to the principal professors of the college from which Kaushik studied and achieved such great achievements."
Dr. Amitabh Roy, principal of the engineering college, said, "We are proud of the success of six students of our college, including Kaushik, in Mission Chandrayaan. We have started telling the current students about their success."
He further said, "It is not the success of anyone alone; all the stakeholders of the college are equally connected behind this success. We are proud of our students. "
Kaushik Nag's mother, Sonalidevi, is proud to see the success of her son and the smiles of his teachers at his success. She said, "I feel very good. The principal of the college came. I want all the students to go ahead and make the college shine."
