The Alipur Zoological Garden counts on New Guests

The Alipur Zoological Garden is one of the major tourist attractions of the city of joy, Kolkata especially during the winters. This season The Alipur Zoological Garden has new members awaiting visitors.

As informed by Asis Kumar Samanta, IFS, The Director of the Alipur Zoological Garden, 4 Grey Eastern Kangaroo from Japan has been brought on 26th October 2017 along with 6 mouse Deer, 1pair of Lion and 1pair of Jaguar from Hyderabad Nehru Zoological Park.

The Minister in-charge, Urban Development Town and Country planning and Municipal Affairs Firhad Hakim and Binay Krishna Burman, MLA, Mathabhanga, West Bengal and The Minister of Forest (2016) inaugurated the enclosures on the 14th December 2017 and the visitors are allowed to visit them from 15th December 2017.

Along with this The Central Zoo Authority has given permission to bring 4 Anaconda’s from Madras Cold Bank and the Alipur Zoological Garden, Kolkata is almost all set to bring in the new members to the family in the month of April since it’s their hibernation period now. There are 4-5 keepers already for the reptile house and they will look after the Anaconda’s as well.

The number of visitors including tourists from abroad has increased from 27lacs in 2014 to 29lacs in 2015 to 35lacs in 2016 as informed by the Director himself and this year The Alipur Zoolgical Garden is expecting more visitors.
