CAB has formed a 12-member special committee, which includes many prominent members, including Sourav Ganguly, to oversee the development of Eden Gardens. Recently, the stadium faced massive criticism when a fire broke out in the away dressing room. In order to prevent such accidents, the committee is working tirelessly and expects the work to be completed well before the tournament kicks off. Notably, Sourav Ganguly was the CAB chief when Eden Gardens hosted the T20 World Cup final in 2016 and later worked as BCCI head during the T20 World Cup in 2021. Hence, he has experience handling major tournaments and gave an update on the development of the project.

The Indian Cricket Board will organize a total of five ODI World Cup matches. Sourav was requested to be on the committee formed by the Cricket Association of Bengal for the World Cup long ago. He agreed later. Apart from only four matches in the group stage, the remaining high-voltage semi-finals will be played at the Eden Gardens. A committee has been formed to make this big step in cricket beautiful and successful. Sourav Gangopadhyay’s experience with the Bengal Cricket Organization will be very useful there.
