Sit back at home and get hitched online

Technology is taking over almost all activities of our daily life and tech-savvy human beings do not even want to go to food corners rather like to sit back at home and order food online. Standing in queue and going to bazaar is so outdated now. Ordering vegetables, cereals and booking of cars through smart apps are the new trends now. What more do we want? This time we wonder why don't we just sit back at home and get our marriage registered through online technologies ! And that is exactly what Bengal has come up with- online registration of marriage. No need to go out and wait in the registrar office. Just choose from 1500 Bengal marriage registration centres and get hitched. The process is “absolutely seamless”. Just visit the site (rgmwb.gov.in) , fill up the form, give personal and physical details and pay the registration fees through the app. Just signing the dotted lines is offline which requires three witnesses. The process started on 9 December with a Bankshal Court lawyer-cum-notary and his wife who did the first online registration as couple. Kamal and Radha Paul got married in 1988 but their marriage was not registered officially. They became the first couple to register online. The present offline system of marriage will go till May 2019 but from June 2019, the entire system will go online.
