Sabitri Chatterjee Recollecting Memories of Childhood with Paoli and Adil

Very few people dare to create something offbeat in this social set up. Time has changed since our ancestors arrived to Kolkata from Bangladesh. Leena Gangopadhyay and Saibal Banerjee together have touched the inner soul of the uprooted East Bengal people through ‘Mati’.

“I have known Leena and Saibal for a long time. They have actually become my soulmates. I share my love, grievances and blues with them. As I am a loner, I do the most of it. I tell them whatever I feel. Somehow, I have realized that I have some inner connections with this pair. When I do not get calls from Leena for a long time, I doubt if there is anything wrong. That very moment only, she calls me back. This is what is called attachment. `Mati' was planned long back and from then only they have probably thought of me in a role. I am there with them since Muharat. But when it was delaying, I used to ask her what happened Leena, when will the shoot start? She never said no to me. She has started from zero, I have also started from zero. My forefathers used to stay in East Bengal, I have yearned for the roots all my life. I have dreamt of my house in Dhaka. I visited Dhaka once. Found nothing. Everything turned to ashes.” Says Sabitri Chatterjee

“I believe it is good to start from zero. You can add a lot of things after that. But if you reach the maximum in the very beginning, then you have nothing more to add. I would like to request Leena not to be disheartened. I have also struggled a lot in life. Roamed the streets of Kolkata without food. Today I have added so many digits to my zero” she added.
