“Run for Education” Kolkata Marathon

More than 8000 participants from across the country will take part in the fifth edition of the Airtel Run-for-Education on November 25. Run-for-Education is a sporting event aimed at fundraising in order to support the cause of providing education for the underprivileged children, signifying “Freedom through education”.

The marathon will include four categories - Fun Run, 5 kms, 10 kms, and 21 kms. It will kick off from City Centre I in Salt Lake, Kolkata, at 7 am, 6.45 am, 5.15 am, and 4.45 am, respectively. This event has had previous successful editions, namely the one in 2014, wherein the funds raised were utilised towards building classroom facilities in Vivekananda Vidya Mandir, Barasat. The recipient of this year’s aid would be Sarada Sishu Mandir, Tanterberia, Howrah.

Bharti Airtel in collaboration with Round Table India, the national social service organization joined hands for this event. The idea is to encourage more and more participation by the city residents to promote a cause as noble as raising funds for the education and upliftment of underprivileged children. Speaking at the launch of the fifth edition, Sameer Anjaria, CEO – West Bengal & Odisha, Bharti Airtel, spoke about how the event has been embraced by all residents. The launch event also saw the showcasing of the running bib, sublime t-shirts, and the coloured medal. The design of the coloured medal has been crowd sourced through online competitions.

The last date for registration for this year’s Run-for-Education is November 17. So Kolkata…let’s run…let’s help spread the light of knowledge…
