Ready to read some Russian Books?

Bookaholics get ready to experience a new genre of books in 2020!

The 44th International Kolkata Book Fair will commence from January 29th till 9th February, 2020, in Central Park Mela grounds at Salt Lake. This year’s focus country will be Russia. "The focal theme this time is – reading together" said President of GUILD Tridib kr. Chatterjee. 

The logo of for 2020 Book Fair was launch in presence in presence of Sudhangshu Sekhar Dey (General Secretary), Tridib Kr. Chatterjee (President) Alexey Idamkin (Hon’ble General Council of Russia) was present.

Previous year, 2.1 million book lovers visited the fair and book worth 22 crores were sold in a row, which is comparatively higher than the time when the fair used to take place at the Milan Mela grounds. Due to the undergoing renovation of Milan Mela ground, the fair is shifted to Salt Lake where approximately 600 publishers and 200 small magazines stalls will set up (the exact number will be revealed within few days). The International Kolkata Book fair 2020 will be open from 12:00 noon to 8.00 pm, but the last day of the fair will last till 9 pm. 

As a chief guest honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal Smt. Mamata Banerjee and 6 authors from Russia will be present during the inauguration. Moreover, IKBF (International Kolkata Book Fair) will celebrate the 200th Birth Anniversary of Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. The International complex will also have UK, USA, Japan, Vietnam, France, Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Australia, 11 Latin American countries and big pavilion of Bangladesh will be participate. Apart from these elements, round table discussion will be held on regular basis.

Apart from this fair, On 6 to 8th February Kolkata will witness a huge gathering for the 7th Kolkata Literary Festival. The press conference for 44th International Kolkata Book Fair, 2020 was held on 17th December.
