Ranikhet, the Real Queen of Uttarakhand

If you really have time for a long weekend and more, then nothing is more enjoyable than visiting Uttarakhand and especially Ranikhet. It is in northern part of India and cooler than any other places. Ranikhet is best known for it offers us mesmerizing view of The Himalayas. The spectacular sight of the snowcapped mountains deserve special mention in every respect.

Places to see: There are many important places that you must visit in Ranikhet. The speciality of Ranikhet is Gandhi Kuti, the place where Mahatma Gandhi used to stay. It is a hut in Tarikhet village. Apart from these there are fruit trees and orchards in Chaubatia garden. Moreover you will get to see peaks like Nada Devi, small helmet like Majkhali and Bhalu Dam. Jhula Devi temple is very well-known in Ranikhet. It is a dedication to the goddess Durga of the bengalees. Another Hindu shrine in Ranikhet is the Mankameshwar temple.

How to reach: If you are going by flight, then you must know that there is no direct flight to Ranikhet. All you need to do is to take a flight to New Delhi and then from there take car to reach Ranikhet. Even for trains, there is no direct connectivity. You need to board a train to Rudrapur City and from there hire a taxi to reach Ranikhet. You can also opt bus facilities. Travel till Dehradun and from there avail the State transport bus to reach Ranikhet.

Places to stay: As with time, Ranikhet has become a very popular tourist destination, you are sure to find ample number of hotels and guest houses nearby to stay. There are a few high profile hotels also.
