One month old Divit Biyani of Kolkata becomes the first in the state to get a birth certificate secured through blockchain. Divit’s father Varun, who is an owner of a startup company, received the high tech certificate on Tuesday. Issued by the New Town Kolkata Development Authority, the blockchain certificate was showcased at the two-day Global blockchain meet in the city.
I’m glad the government is implementing new technology like this to secure information and prevent manipulation. It is sheer luck we are first to receive this certificate.

Do you know how blockchain certificate works? The blockchain is an incorruption digital ledger that is tamper-proof. A virtual block representing the information, in this case, the person’s date of birth is created and stored in the decentralized ledger.
Only the users themselves, and respective authorities can access the blocks.
Our State IT minister Amit Mitra said that the IT department was projecting blockchain as the anchor theme for Bengal’s strategy in the IT world in the short and medium term.
