New Metro Services To Commence In Kolkata From March 15! Know The Timings Accordingly

Kolkata eagerly awaits the inauguration of the metro services along the banks of the Ganges, but the question remains: When will the public be able to hop on board? Despite the anticipation, it's not just the Esplanade route that's set to open; starting on the same day, services will also commence for the Ruby-New Garia and Joka-Majherhat routes.

In a press conference held today, metro authorities revealed that starting next Friday, March 15th, metro trains will run on all three routes, allowing commuters to experience the much-awaited service. Among the three routes, the services from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade will see the first metro departing at 7:00 AM and the last one leaving at 09:45 PM. Trains will run approximately every 15 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and then every 12 minutes until 11:00 a.m.

During the evening rush, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, trains will operate every 12 minutes, with the last metro departing at 9:00 PM. However, metro services will remain suspended on Sundays.

Meanwhile, the metro service from Kavi Subhash to Ruby will also commence on the same day, operating from 9:00 a.m. to 4:40 p.m., with trains running every 20 minutes. Additionally, services along the Joka-Majherhat route will operate approximately every 25 minutes, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.

Weekend travellers, however, should plan accordingly, as both the Ruby to New Garia and Joka to Majherhat routes will be completely closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

The commencement of these new metro services brings hope and convenience to the residents of Kolkata, promising easier and faster commutes across the city. As the countdown to March 15th begins, the city eagerly awaits the dawn of a new era in public transportation.
