New initiative for the development of libraries

Reading is important because it develops the creative side of the people. The State government is looking for ways for the development of local libraries and they have taken an initiative in order to draw the attention of the readers. The government officials think that the number of readers will increase in the state because of this initiative. In the question-answer session on Thursday, Librarian Siddiqulla Chowdhury stated that the state government is planning to focus on the development of rural libraries and in the current financial year the officials will work on it. He said Rs 30 thousand, 35 thousand and 40 thousand have been allocated for the 2000 libraries. The total cost will be Rs 6 cr and last year, the amount spent on libraries was Rs. 3 cr 55 thousand. Grants of 20 and 30 thousand rupees were given to 1455 rural libraries respectively. The officials believe that increase in the amount will grab the maximum number of eyeballs.
