After the success of the Patuli floating market, State Government has decided to have another floating market, this time at Mirik. This new floating market will have the same structure as the Patuli floating market. Once the Detailed Project Report is complete, the state government will commence with the construction of this market.
Since the floating market will be constructed on the already famous Mirik Lake, it’ll attract even more tourists than before. Lights will be used to decorate the whole area of the market as well as the lakeside. A park will all also be constructed and seating arrangements will be made for the tourists. Apart from vegetables, Darjeeling tea and oranges will also be available at the market. Local handicrafts will also be available here, thus getting proper recognition.
The floating market of Patuli has already gained a lot of attention and people from different parts of the city come down to this market every Saturday and Sunday. The vegetable sellers use their boats as shops and sell their products in the market. The whole area has been decorated with light and the surrounding areas including the streets and roads have been properly developed.
