National trade strike on 28th September

The traders ,who are a part of the West Bengal traders association have decided to call for a nationwide one-day token strike on September 28 as a mark of protest against the Flipkart-Walmart deal and Foreign Direct Investment or FDI in retail trade.

The secretary general of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Rabishankar Roy stated, "About seven crore voters across the country will be participating in a Bharat Trade Bandh on September 28 in order to protect their rights and business. Something like this is happening for the first time.” “The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has requested us to reconsider the bandh because the puja is around the corner, but as the strike is taking place at the national level, we can’t really do  anything about that right now." he added.

There are 30-40 lakh traders in West Bengal. The strike has been called by CAIT.
