Kolkata Metro: Metro Services Disrupted Again Due To Signal Issues, Daily Passengers Face Trouble

Once again, Kolkata commuters faced disruptions during office hours as the metro services were affected. This Friday, Shyambazar station witnessed signalling problems, causing delays in the metro schedule. Consequently, daily commuters had to bear the brunt of the situation.

Reports indicate that at 10 a.m. today, signalling issues were observed at Shyambazar station, leading to a temporary halt in services. With services suspended, passengers were left stranded, some patiently waiting for normalcy to resume while others sought alternative modes of transportation.

Subsequently, metro services resumed, albeit at a sluggish pace. Delays persisted across all stations, exacerbating the inconvenience for passengers. Koushik Mitra, a commuter, highlighted that signalling problems were the root cause of these disruptions, which had become a recurring issue.

This incident echoes a similar disruption last Thursday when automated signalling systems malfunctioned at Maidan station, resulting in service disruptions on both the up and down lines. Most stations experienced delays ranging from 5 to 10 minutes. The metro operated at reduced speeds between Maidan, Rabindra Sadan, and Netaji Bhavan stations.

Additionally, stations lacked proper display boards, further adding to passenger woes. Metro authorities attributed the issue to a power outage at Maidan station the previous night. Despite efforts to rectify the situation, disruptions persisted.

The recurrence of such incidents has left commuters frustrated, facing repeated challenges during their daily journeys.
