Kolkata Metro introduces new power regeneration system

In the last four and a half years, the release of carbon dioxide from metro rails has reduced by 1327.88%. This has been possible because of the use of solar power to run the system. There are solar panels on the roofs of existing stations like Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Kavi Subhash, solar power is used at the car sheds and even the water is heated using this panels.

The capacity of solar power installation has also increased in recent years by 1328.12%. The new rakes which have been procured from ICF, Chennai, uses a technology which is regenerative in nature to preserve power. Thus, powers are pumped back into the system every time brakes are applied. The trials will be completed soon and these rakes will be put to action. The upcoming stations are going to be running on green energy completely.
