India qualified for the final by 5-0 after defeating Japan.

India are currently undefeated in the competition, with five wins and a draw in the last few games that they have played so far. The Asian Champions Trophy 2023 match between India and Pakistan was played on Wednesday, August 9, at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai. Pakistan lost to India by 4 goals, even though they scored goals in the beginning of the match.

Team India was too good against Japan. The ‘Men in Blue’ brigade beat Japan 5-0 in the second semi-final at Chennai’s Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Friday, August 11. India’s opponent in the mega final is Malaysia on August 12. Malaysia beat South Korea 6-2 in the first semi-final on this day. On this day, PR Sreejesh played his 300th match in international hockey.

Akashdeep Singh broke the deadlock in the 19th minute. India scored twice more before halftime.

India was mentally far ahead, leading by 3-0 goals. Using that opportunity, India’s fourth goal came in the 39th minute. Manpreet attacked again from the right side. He passed two Japanese defenders to Sumit who were overlapping. Sumit’s goal after catching a pass Shelvam Karthi put the final nail in Japan’s coffin by scoring the fifth goal in the 51st minute.

Statistics show that before this match, the India vs. Japan duel was held 34 times. In between, India’s supremacy remained. The Indian team left the field, winning 27 times out of 34 matches. Japan won only three matches. Four matches ended in draws.
