Durga Puja's Grand Commencement: Kolkata Immersed in Festive Fervor

On Panchami night, the entire city buzzes with Durga Puja fever, with every nook and cranny filled with enthusiastic crowds. The mirth of the festival is already in the air, starting in Mahalaya. Durga Puja pandals, from South Kolkata's Evergreen to Baghbazar's Culture Square, Singhi Park, Suruchi Sangha, Chetla Agrani, and Naktala Sarbojanin, have attracted massive attention.

Notably, North Kolkata doesn't fall behind. Santosh Mitra Square, a beloved pandal, is swarmed with people. Union Home Minister Amit Shah graced the inauguration ceremony on Monday.

The festivities have begun even before Mahalaya, with many pandals opening their doors to the eager visitors. From every street corner, devotees throng to catch a glimpse of ma Durga. The crowd spills over onto the streets, and the fervour only escalates as the puja progresses.

For the major pujas in Kolkata, detailed information about the waiting times and crowd sizes is now available directly on the Kolkata Police's Facebook page. This live update began on Chaturthi night.

Kolkata's famous 16 to 17 pujas, as listed on Wednesday night at 9:11 p.m., include Aahiritola (1 minute), Babu Bagan (3 minutes), Bosepukur Talbagan (4 minutes), Chetla Agrani (9 minutes), College Square (9 minutes), Deshapriya Park (10 minutes), Ekdalia Evergreen (6 minutes), Kumartuli Park (6 minutes), Md.
