Devastating Fire Broke Out At Kadapara Jute Mills, 10 Fire Engines At The Scene

Once again, Kolkata wakes up to the alarming news of a fire outbreak. This time, it's at the Kadapara Calcutta Jutemill, sending shivers down the spines of residents and workers alike. At precisely 7:45 AM this morning, flames erupted from Shed No. 3 of the Jutemill, rapidly engulfing a portion of the premises. The fire came under control at 12:00 p.m..

Responding swiftly to the emergency, ten firefighting engines from the Fire Department rushed to the scene. However, the presence of ample combustible jute exacerbated the situation, demanding extraordinary efforts from the fire brigade team to bring the blaze under control.

As thick plumes of smoke blanketed the area, nearby residents found themselves in a state of panic, while the densely populated region added further challenges to the firefighting operation. Despite the intense efforts, the authorities estimate substantial financial losses, roughly around 20 million rupees. Employees at Jutemill are understandably shaken by the incident, fearing for their livelihoods.

Though the exact cause of the fire remains unclear, preliminary investigations suggest a possible short circuit. The Kadapara Jutemill, situated along the Belgharia EM Bypass, houses numerous warehouses stocked with raw jute and jute products, contributing to the severity of the situation. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported amidst the chaos.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of industrial areas and the critical importance of robust fire safety measures. As authorities continue their probe into the cause, the community remains vigilant, hoping to prevent such disasters in the future.
