Darjeeling returned to normal after 100 days of strike

After 100 days of infinite strike called by the Gorkha parties in support of a separate state of Gorkhaland, parts of Darjeeling hills began to come back to normalcy on 24th September.

Kurseong district saw an increased number of shops opening for business on Saturday. “Every day, more shops are opening. We hope that in time, Kurseong will be completely normal,” a local resident said. “Transporters had earlier this month decided to start operating, so there has been public transport within Kurseong district as well as between Kurseong and other districts. Government offices are fully operational, and have had full attendance” he added.
