Connecting the Past and Future by Response: Installations & New Media

Historic Gem Cinema in Kolkata was witness to the grand inauguration of ‘Response: Installations & New Media’ in the esteemed presence of Mr. Frisco Maecker (Director of Goethe-Institute in Max Mueller Bhavan, Kolkata), Mr. Dipanjan Chakrabarti (Director British Council, Kolkata), Mr.Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury (Renowned Film Director) along with Dr. Rudrangshu Mukherjee (Historian and Chancellor of Ashoka University)

The exhibition marked the second aprt of CIMA’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Overlying theme for the exhibition was towards connecting the past with the future and contemporary artists from all over the country working in non conventional media participated in the month long exhibition.

 

Debasis Barui, Manas Acharya, Anju Chaudhuri, Kenneth Cyrus, Harendra Kumar Kushwaha, Sukanta Majumder, Chittrovanu Mazumdar, Hiran Mitra, Madhuja Mukherjee, Moloy Mukherjee, Avni Doshi, Jaya Ganguly along with many others took part in the exhibition.

 

Ms. Pratiti Basu Sarkar (Chief administrator of CIMA Gallery) said on the occasion that the rare and spectacular exhibition of New media and Installation art makes the future the present and the present past. It’s a mix of exciting and fine artists of the country who merge the new language of technology with poetry and painting.

 

The exhibition showcased numerous installations, video art, graphiti alongside non-traditional genres from early 90’s to present times.

This exhibition will go on till 28th February, 2018.
