Chill to stay in Kolkata

The temperature of Kolkata rose by two degrees recently and is currently hovering around 13°C which is still below normal. The temperature had dropped as low as 11.3°C.G K Das, director at RMC, Kolkata said, "The north-westerly winds are blowing in uninterrupted. At present, there is no major weather system to hinder the cold feeling and the minimum temperature will stay around 13°C for now". The Meteorological department suggests that the north-westerly winds are taking a toll on the temperature and are thus keeping an eye on a developing weather condition over Jammu and Kashmir. The department predicts heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and it would bring more chill to the city and would lower the temperature than normal. “The northwestern states from where the north-westerly is blowing in are under a cold spell. Currently, there is no major weather system that will block this wind system. That is why we expect the next few days to be cool in Kolkata,” said G K Das.
