After working as a sub-lieutenant with the Navy and completing his 11-yearstint in Kolkata working as 'Aide-De-Camp' to two governors and then in the entertainment industry, Captain Virendra Singh Marya has now started pursuing his dream of getting into showbiz.
Talking to Jiyo Bangla from Mumbai 60-year-old Marya said that he always had this inclination towards filmmaking. “Even when I was working as an ADC to governors Uma Shankar Dikshit and Prof SaiyidNurulHasan, I would crave for getting into the entertainment industry and later I joined Inox Leisure Limited as the eastern India director and worked there for six years. Within that time I met many big shots from the entertainment industry and then after moving on to Mumbai I am now working as a military story and screenplay writer and intend to produce military based films. Sometimes I sail as a Captain of merchant ships just to keep in touch with my naval background,” he said. He also said that even in Bengal, he had worked on a full-length Bengali feature film which was very much appreciated.
Without divulging much about the two stories he has been working on, he said, “Both the stories are inspired from real life incidents and have been slightly modified. One of the scripts is nearly ready while the second one has just been outlined. It will be set against the background of Baluchistan.”
The starcast has not yet been settled and he said that some rounds of meetings were due with the production company before they zero in on anyone but as a writer he had kept in mind either Ranveer Singh or Ranbir Kapoor for the first film and Akshay Kumar for the second film because it deals with a person who had been in the army who is seeking revenge for the death of his colleagues by taking law in his own hand after all efforts of getting justice in a legal way failed. “There are nuances and little aspects of military life which I am sure people have not seen in Hindi film before this. Even in films like the HrithikRoshan-starrer Lakshya the military world among the officers were not much exploited. I intend to explore that world and bring it to the audience,” Marya said.
