CU Science Department is shifting

The University of Calcutta, one of the most prestigious educational institutions of the country is ready for some serious upgradations. The university has decided to shift the science and technology under one roof and on the same campus.

As there are 32 science departments spread across three campuses including Salt Lake, Ballygunge and Rajabazar. Instead of three different campuses, there will be one campus dedicated to Integrated Science & Technology, which will be set up in Rajarhat. The state government has already sanctioned a 5.50-acre land and a sum of Rs. 100 crores for the project.

The main purpose of this decision is to provide upgraded facilities and technologies to the students. The old campuses will be renovated, some of them are heritage buildings and the authorities have not yet decided on how to use them. This departmental shift is expected to improve and increase the inter-departmental co-ordinations.  Classes can be combined to get more productive and innovative results.
