In the educational year 2023, Debashis Mondal, a mathematics teacher at Purulia Ramakrishna Mission, has been honoured with the "Education Award" by the Government of West Bengal. This prestigious award will be conferred upon him on September 5th, Tuesday.
Debashis Mondal was born on January 10, 1968, in the village of Parshola, located within the Simlipal area of Bankura district in West Bengal. His father was a teacher by profession, and his mother was a homemaker.
He spent his formative years in the Bankura district and completed his higher secondary education at Bankura District School. He then pursued his bachelor's degree at Bankura's Christian College and later earned a postgraduate degree from Burdwan University. His journey into the teaching profession began gradually. Currently, Debashis Mondal serves as a proctor and head of the Department of Mathematics at Purulia Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapeeth.
With 34 years of dedicated teaching experience, he has made a significant impact within the Ramakrishna Mission's educational framework. Earlier he was honoured with the ‘International Education Icon Award’ and the ‘Bharat Jyoti Shiksharatna Award’ for his outstanding work in the field of education.
In addition to his teaching career, Debashis Mondal is also a published author. Some of his books are 'Kheyali Kham,' 'Shunyo Theke Shuru,' 'Bigyanider Schoolbela,' 'Ek Ishwar Proshno Onek,' 'Bhituder Jonno Noy,' and 'Char Char Chuwallish'. He has also edited books such as 'Tarunnyer Protidhwani,' 'RatriShesher Notun Surjalok,' 'Corona Kaler Kobita,' and 'Shoto Choray Satyajit'. For his contributions to literature, he has received the "Bibhutibhushan Smriti Award’ and the ‘Sunil Gangopadhyay Smriti Award’.
Apart from his teaching and literary pursuits, Debashis Mondal is passionate about cricket, football, drama, and quizzes. He maintains a disciplined and dedicated approach to his interests and has achieved success through hard work and determination. He is highly regarded among students at Purulia's Ramakrishna Mission, where he is a ‘beloved teacher’.
