Bandhan Express to better tie India and Bangladesh

West Bengal chief minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee along with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina flagged off the much awaited Kolkata-Khulna “Bandhan Express” on 9th November. This is a weekly express that will run every Thursday. The entire train is fully air conditioned.

The Bandhan Express travels a distance of 172 km one way — 77 km in India and 95 km in Bangladesh. The train travels via the Petrapole-Benapole route. It leaves Kolkata station every Thursday at 7.10am and reaches Khulna at noon, same day. Thereafter it starts on the return leg from Khulna at 1.20pm same day and reaches Kolkata at 6.10 pm same evening.

The three leaders also inaugurated two bridges over the rivers Meghna and Titas in Bangladesh to provide end-to-end immigration facility to ease Dhaka-Kolkata Maitree train services.
