As spring approaches, the anticipation of rain offers a glimmer of hope to alleviate the lingering chill of winter in West Bengal. While temperatures have been fluctuating, indicating a hesitant transition, the prospect of rainfall presents a welcome shift in the weather pattern.
According to reports from the Alipore Weather Office, light to moderate rainfall is expected to moisten various districts of South Bengal starting next Tuesday. This forecast extends the possibility of rain until Friday, with several northern districts also likely to experience scattered showers during this period.
Specifically, areas like Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, and parts of West Bardhaman district may witness light rainfall on Tuesday, followed by Jhargram, East Bardhaman, Murshidabad, and Nadia districts on Wednesday. Even on Thursday, there remains a chance of light to moderate rainfall in Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, and West Bardhaman.
Further south, Thursday and Friday bring the likelihood of light rainfall across all districts, including Kolkata, indicating a widespread shift in weather conditions. However, the onset of rain could also mark the beginning of the end of the winter season, with temperatures expected to rise gradually thereafter.
The Alipore Weather Office speculates that following this rainfall, temperatures could rise by three to four degrees Celsius across the state, signalling a transition towards warmer weather.
Today, Kolkata's minimum temperature is expected to be around 17.1 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than the normal range, while the maximum temperature could reach up to 27 degrees Celsius.
Comparatively, yesterday saw a minimum temperature of 14.9 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 26.9 degrees Celsius in Kolkata, reflecting a gradual increase in temperatures over the past 24 hours.
While the impending rainfall brings hope for warmer days ahead, it also serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather patterns in the region. As residents prepare to bid farewell to winter, they remain vigilant for any changes that may occur in the coming days.
