This Week’s Weather Forecast: Rain Provides Relief From The Intense Heat, How Long Will This Rain Last?

Residents of South Bengal can finally breathe a sigh of relief as rainfall brings relief from the scorching heat that had gripped the region until last week. According to the Meteorological Department, moderate to light rainfall has been observed in various districts of South Bengal, including Kolkata, since the beginning of this week. However, the forecast suggests that the anticipation of rainfall will continue in these districts throughout the week.

Additionally, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning for nine districts of the state, including Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, South and North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Murshidabad, Purulia, Bankura, and Bardhaman. These districts may experience gusty winds with speeds ranging from 50 to 60 kilometres per hour. Along with the winds, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is also expected in some areas.

Furthermore, North Bengal districts are also likely to experience scattered light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds, with speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. Although the intensity of rainfall may vary, a gradual decrease in rainfall is expected in the southern districts of the state from Sunday onwards.

On Thursday, Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, which is 3.7 degrees lower than normal, bringing some relief from the sweltering heat. The minimum temperature was recorded at 21.9 degrees Celsius, approximately 5 degrees lower than usual.
