42nd International Kolkata Book Fair Is A Love Affair To Kolkata

Bengal is known as the pioneers of culture when the same is concerned with Literature. Rabindranath Tagore to Samaresh Majumdar, Sukumar Ray to Satyajit Ray, Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay to Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay... Bengal has produced the finest of writers and has placed itself at a strong position in the History of Literature. Hence, the yearly Book Fair in Kolkata is one of the major events in the city as it attracts almost everybody in the city of joy.

The smell of new books brings about emotional satisfaction to the Bengalis. Even the most ignorant Bengalis of the city do not miss out on the Book Fair. The feeling of filling our lungs with the aroma of freshly printed paper alone is an emotional experience second to none. Some visit the Book Fair to buy themselves a whole lot to stock up on till the next Book Fair, while others visit for the attractive shows that happens on the grounds during the Fair. Whatever be the reason, Book Fair is a must visit for Bengalis. Not just people living the city visit the fair but the books even attract people from outskirts.

The 42nd Edition of the Kolkata International Book Fair was facing a dilemma in choosing a place for the fair as this time the State Government decided to shift the Book Fair from the Milan Mela Grounds to some other place. After hunting for suitable places the State Government, Publishers, Bookseller Guild and organisers of the annual Book Fair has finally decided upon Setting up this year’s Book Fair in Central Park, Salt Lake.

30th January at 4.30pm is the inauguration time for the 42nd edition of The International Book Fair and it is to continue till the 11th February from 12pm-8pm. This time the Book Fair is heard to be decorated with France as its theme. So, finally that time of the year has arrived, which book lovers wait for the whole year. The International Kolkata Book Fair looks forward to a heavier crowd this year.
