Director Reshmi Mitra on ‘Tolly Kotha’!

Reshmi Mitra initially dreamt of being an actress, but fate brought her behind the camera than in front of it. She started her career as a movie director in 2012 with the action drama ‘Macho Mustana’ which starred Hiran Chatterjee and Puja Bose. Since then she has worked in various films namely 2017 drama ‘Hothat Dekha’ which was screened in the Kolkata International Film Festival’s Bengali Panorama segment. Mitra has received formal training in theatre direction and has also been involved in costume designing, event management including film and theatre festivals along with award functions. Her other noteworthy works include the drama ‘Baranda’ which revolves around a plot that depicts the complexity of human relationships through the lives of two individuals. ‘Baranda’ stars Sreela Majumdar and Manali Dey in the lead roles. Apart from direction, Mitra is also into writing and before getting into the industry she initially worked in a leading newspaper. Her next film 'Barababu' is going to be based on the life of theatre personality Sishir Kumar Bhaduri. She shared the details of the film and various experiences of her directorial ventures with Jiyo Bangla on its exclusive show ‘Tolly Kotha’.
