Pandit Bickram Ghosh on Jiyo Bangla!

Pandit Bickram Ghosh, a maestro of classical tabla, began his musical education under the tutelage of his father, Pandit Shankar Ghosh, who performed with Ali Akbar Khan. Recognized globally for his exceptional skill on the tabla, Ghosh is also celebrated as one of the pioneers of experimental fusion music. Alongside his career as a film music director with 38 feature film scores to his credit, he received Oscar consideration for one of his works. Ghosh is known for his willingness to explore and reinterpret various musical genres and cultural influences, spanning classical, rock, new-age, fusion, and film music.

Bickram Ghosh is a highly renowned figure in the genre of Indo-fusion music with extensive global performances alongside esteemed classical musicians, particularly Pt. Ravi Shankar, with whom he collaborated for more than ten years. He has contributed to the creation of four Grammy-nominated albums, including George Harrison's "Brainwashed".

In a recent interaction with Jiyo Bangla on its exclusive show ‘Jiyo Adda With Anindita Sarkar’, Pandit Bickram Ghosh discussed candidly about his musical journey and explained why despite making numerous sacrifices, he cannot choose to leave Calcutta. Pandit Ghosh also shares insights into the days of duelling with Pandit Ravi Shankar.
