You can watch Chandrayaan-2 LIVE

India’s second moon mission Chandrayaan-2 will explore the unchartered lunar South Pole. The spacecraft is carrying an orbiter, lander and a rover, and will be launched on a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-MkIII from a Launchpad in Sriharikota today.

The Chandrayaan-2 integrated module is scheduled to reach the Moon's orbit by September, and land on it by 6th September.

Around 7,500 people have registered online with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to witness India's heavy-lift rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV-Mk III) head towards the sky carrying Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft today afternoon, as said by reports. You can also watch it LIVE on the youtube chanel of Press Information Bureau.

A few months back Isro decided to allow the general public to witness the launch, a gallery was built for it which turned out to be not enough for all the space enthusiasts in India. Isro plans to increase the number of viewers gradually as currently, the gallery capacity is about 10,000 people.

Chandrayaan-2 will be India's first attempt at a soft landing and it is a follow-up mission to Chandrayaan-1, which happened in October 2008. And provided the first confirmation of water (in the form of hydroxyl ions) on the moon in 2009!
