Writer Shankar to get honorary doctorate

Writer Shankar (Manishankar Mukhopadhyay) will be conferred honorary D. Litt for his memorable contribution to Bengali literature. On 27th November the governor of West Bengal Acharya Kesharinath Tripathi will present the degree at Bankura University's first convocation. Writer Shankar will get this recognition before his birthday which is on 7th of December. Shankar's first essay 'Koto ajanare' centers around a barrister named Noel Barwell who was associated with the Calcutta High Court and this essay has been critically acclaimed.His books have grabbed the attention of young readers. Shankar's next hit novel 'Chowringhee' has already gained popularity both in India and abroad.
