Who said water’s insipid?

Since ages, we have believed that water has no taste. Unlike previous notions, things have taken a different turn altogether and the revelations are quite surprising.

Researchers from the University of California, USA, used a mouse and tried testing its brain’s activities. They wanted to prove that there are sour cells in water and for that, they used techniques like optogenetics. After that, they replaced the water from the animal’s bottle with blue light and came to the conclusion that the thirsty mouse went for water. Light triggered its sensory cue, although the place was not hydrated.
