West Bengal To Run On Green Energy

Global warming is reaching its peak as it’s quite visible in the climate shifts over the recent years. Environmentalists are urging people to use biodegradable and renewable sources of energy. The government is also pushing on adopting renewable sources of energy so as to keep the environment pollution-free and also keep in check the depleting sources of non-renewable energy. On the occasion of the National Renewable Energy Day earlier this week the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee declared that the state is drawing up major schemes for promoting solar power and other sources of renewable energy. Last week New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) decided to install solar-powered stud lights on selected roads. The lights will get charged up during the day and give light at night. These lights may be red, amber or other colors, blinking or steady. They have also decided install 1, 000 studs in New Town. NKDA will invite tenders very soon. Recently the West Bengal CM inaugurated the Dighashree Bangla International Convention Centre gave strict instructions to the civic bodies and panchayats to conserve and save energy, water, and the environment.
