Veteran actor Mrinal Mukherjee passes away

Veteran actor Mrinal Mukherjee who is known for his roles in television and films passed away in a private nursing home on Tuesday, May 07. The 74 years old noted actor was suffering from deadly cancer for a very long time and was recently being diagnosed with jaundice and geriatric issues. His conditions deteriorated on Monday, May 06 after which he was taken to a private nursing home where he breathed his last breath. He is well known for his roles in Byomkesh O Chiriakhana (2016), Ghar Jamai (2008) and Streer Maryada (2002) among others. He was also a popular face in television serials. Apart from acting, he used to be a playback singer too for various films. He had equal expertise in dramas and yatras. Mukherjee had made his debut as a child actor back in 1955 in the film Dui Bon where he was heavily praised for his performance which featured in many hit Bengali films like Golpo Holeo Sotti, Nayika Sangbad, Chuti, and Shriman Prithviraj. Many actors and filmmakers, especially from the Tollywood film industry, offered their condolences on his demise. Mukherjee is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters, among whom his elder daughter ‘Jojo’ is a well-known singer.
