Ustad Rashid Khan with Pandit Tanmoy Bose Leaves Kolkatans Spellbound with the Fifth Note

The Fifth Note Global Centre of Excellence, an initiative of Ustad Rashid Khan and Tanmoy Bose along with Tata Capital organized its convocation evening today at Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre at Salt Lake.

The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Ustad Rashid Khan and Tabla Maestro Pandit Tanmoy Bose along with Mr. Praveen P Kadle, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Capital, Professor Sankar Ghosh, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kalyani and Professor Sadhan Chakraborty, Vice-Chancellor of Kaji Nazrul University, Professor Swapan Kumar Dutta, Vice-chancellor of Viswa Bharati University, who inaugurated the glorious evening of song and dance by lighting the lamp.

Following this was the soulful performances by the academy students of Ustad Rashid Khan, followed by the convocation ceremony towards felicitating the ‘Rising stars’ and the ‘Shining stars’ of the Fifth Note Global Centre of Excellence.

Wise folks say that ‘there is no force equal to that of a determined woman’. Eminent Bengali women who have achieved in different sectors of life and professional fields were next presented with Shree Nandini Award. Theatre and film personality Sohini Sengupta; eminent singer Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, fashion designer Agnimitra Paul; eminent classical dancer Rujuta Soman; social activist Nilanjana Chakraborty; social activist Urmi Basu; and medical entrepreneur Dr. Dolly Gupta were all presented with Shree Nandini award, followed up by a captivating traditional classical dance performance by Rujuta Soman.

The event also marked the launch of ‘Poocho Na’, the first original duet album featuring Ustad Rashid Khan and his daughter Shaona Khan with a preview of a song from the album which left the audience speechless.

Furthermore, the audience witnessed the captivating launch of the band ‘Black and Gold’ which is a band formed with a unique blend of Sufi music and dance to propagate world peace by adopting music as a religion. The audience were left mesmerized by the performances of Suha Khan, Rujuta Suman featuring Ustad Rashid Khan and Tanmoy Bose with songs such as ’Yaad Piya ki aaye’ and ‘Aaoge Jab Tum’.
