TMC blanket distribution event

Republic Day celebration continued in Topsia on Monday, through a noble manner by members of Trinamool Congress, Ward 59. About 500 needy people in and around the locality were given blankets and clothes and schoolbags were distributed among children.

Among senior leaders present at the occasion were the local MLA Swarna Kamal Saha, councillor of the ward Jolly Bose and party president of the ward, Robin Bose.

All the leaders on stage in turn elaborated on the initiatives of Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government of the state and how she was leading towards a holistic and inclusive development of West Bengal.

Our leader and Chief Minister has been an inspirational one and that is why we had decided to do something like this. Youths of the locality came together and there was a lot of cooperation of people of the locality to make this event a roaring success.

Robin Bose during his speech expressed his gratitude to Saha as he had turned up at the event in spite of bereavement in the family. “I had told him earlier that the boys here wanted him to come over and it would boost their morale a lot if he could take some time out. When I called him up last night I learnt about the loss in the family but still he had a big heart to say that the loss which he had suffered could not be undone and that he would come over for the function,” Bose said.

Saha said it was encouraging to see such gestures from the young blood and that it will go a long way in shaping the character of the next generation.

Beneficiaries, however, were thrilled to get the blankets. “May god bless the souls who have thought about us, the poor and down trodden,” said a septuagenarian recipient.

Happiness for the street urchins knew no bounds as they went around with their new schoolbags.
